The platform

Capsule.

The open instrument-platform that runs on LAB-1. An instrument that grows with a community — not just a roadmap.

What “open” means here

Honest about openness — at every layer.

“Open” gets thrown around. We’re specific about what is open, and how.

The plugin SDK is genuinely open

A permissive SDK and plugin host. Anyone can build synth engines, effects and tools for Capsule, and ship them to every LAB. This is the open part — and we mean it.

The OS is source-available

The underlying operating system is source-available — readable and inspectable, with sustained support as part of the promise. We don’t call it “open source,” because that means something specific we’re not claiming.

Why it matters

The instrument keeps getting better.

When the platform is open at the developer surface, the instrument isn’t finished the day it ships — it’s the start. New sounds, new tools, new ideas arrive from a community of builders. That’s also a promise about longevity: an instrument worth keeping for years.
